In a humble opinion the 12 gram basket works best at 13 grams. Otherwise the crema does not develop sufficiently. I suspect that the pressure simply remains too low (relative to the 18+ gram basket. EL

I find that I rarely use the 12 gram basket. That being said, I'm still glad that I have it. It is the right basket for the right drink every once in awhile. It's good to have options. Equal in quality, lesser in quantity.
